A bracelet with real presence.

At the center, a lion's head rises in high relief, its mane swept into deep sculptural curls and its gaze set with two red paste eyes. A single clear paste stone rests in its mouth. Engraved scrolls and crosshatched panels frame the lion on either side, carrying the design across the pierced shoulders so the whole front of the bracelet reads as one piece. 

The lion was one of the most loved motifs of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, a symbol of strength, courage and protection. Gold filled construction allowed jewelers of the period to stamp and chase this kind of deep, detailed relief at a scale that would have been impractical in solid gold.

The hinged band opens easily and closes securely, and the slim 6.78mm back keeps it comfortable on the wrist while the lion takes center stage, making it a natural statement on its own or a favorite added to your stack.

Beautiful antique condition with light, age-appropriate wear consistent with careful use. Paste stones intact.

Provenance:

The mark PAT. 322 10 refers to a patent dated March 22, 1910, with the month, day and year stamped together. That date fell on a Tuesday, the day the Patent Office issued patents, which supports the reading. A patent date marks the earliest a piece could have been made, and makers often kept stamping the same date for several years. That places this bracelet around 1910 or just after, at the close of the Edwardian period.
