WH & Co Lion Photo Locket
Beautiful vintage locket with a lion roaring that appears to be strongly walking out through a portal. The lion has two red paste stones in the eyes and a clear one in the mouth.
This expertly crafted gold filled locket features a 3-dimensional roaring lion centerpiece with garnet glass eyes and clenching a clear rhinestone in its mouth. The back of the locket is blank.
Roaring lions traditionally are seen as a symbol of power, prestige and courage.
This spectacular piece was made by the Wightman & Hough Company of Providence, RI. The company was operational from 1856 to 1922 and mainly specialized in fine and costume lockets, seals and medallions.
