Intaglio Sapphire Locket • Antique Victorian Gold Filled Locket with Obsidian Intaglio of a Classical Warrior

This gold-filled locket boasts an exquisite obsidian intaglio of a classical warrior, showcased within an oval, wearing a regal plumed helmet and gazing to the right, with a plain mount. The reverse of the locket reveals a central sapphire, impressively set in a star setting. It opens to reveal space for up to two photos, including the original two frames and glass. Obsidian, a naturally occurring volcanic glass, possesses a striking glassy appearance.

• Locket opens to hold 2 photo's. Frames and original glass intact

 A striking piece of antique jewelry with a well carved obsidian panel but with some damage to the inner edges, not affecting the intaglio. The frames and glass for the photographs are both intact. Some scratches to the gilt side of the locket and to the edges. The locket closes firmly.
